The Board of Preachers was established in 1881, and was charged to work with the Plummer Professor of Christian Morals in the conduct of religious services in the University. The Memorial Church was dedicated in 1932 and incorporates Appleton Chapel, the name given to a former building erected on the same site in 1855.
